These terms cover your use of Miliastry, the BBCode editor and its Canvas Studio, Workshop, cloud saving, plugins and collaborative editing at miliastry.com. By using Miliastry you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use it.
1. Who runs Miliastry
Miliastry is an independent project made and run by hxovc. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by osu! or ppy Pty Ltd. osu! and its logos belong to their owners.
2. What the service is
Miliastry is a free editor for BBCode, the markup osu! uses for profile pages. Around the editor there are optional features: saving to your account (cloud), the Workshop (a community gallery where people publish layouts, snippets, block templates and plugins), plugins, and real-time collaborative editing.
Some of it is experimental. Collaborative editing is in a testing phase, and anything can change, break or be withdrawn. Miliastry currently has no paid features. If that ever changes, these terms will be updated before it does.
3. Your account
You can use the editor without an account. To save to the cloud, publish to the Workshop, comment, star or collaborate you sign in with your osu! account. Miliastry never sees your osu! password.
You must be 13 or over. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to accept these terms and the Privacy Policy for you before you sign in.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.
One person, one account. Do not sell, share or impersonate accounts.
4. Your content and the licence you give us
What you write is yours. Miliastry does not claim ownership of your documents, projects, layouts, snippets, comments or plugins.
To run the service you give Miliastry a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and process what you save to your account or publish, only as needed to operate the features you use. That includes generating thumbnails, showing a public Workshop item to other people, and letting people who open it download or clone it.
A public Workshop item can be viewed, starred, commented on, downloaded and cloned by anyone. Copies already made by others are theirs to keep when you remove the item.
Private cloud files are visible to you. Files in a collaborative room are visible to that room’s members. The person who runs Miliastry can also open any stored file, private ones included, and does so only when needed to moderate, investigate abuse or a report, fix a fault, or meet a legal duty.
The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from short-lived backups and copies already made by other people.
You confirm you have the right to publish what you publish, including any image, text or code in it.
5. What you may not do
Do not use Miliastry to publish, store or share:
sexual content involving minors, in any form. We have zero tolerance for it, we remove it, and we report it to the authorities as the law requires;
content that is illegal, or that harasses, threatens, doxxes or targets a person or group for who they are;
malware, code that steals data, or plugins that do something other than what they say;
content that infringes someone’s copyright, trademark or privacy;
spam, scams, or anything that impersonates another person or project.
Do not attack the service: no scraping at scale, no bypassing rate limits, no probing for vulnerabilities beyond responsible disclosure, and no evading a ban with another account. If you find a security problem, tell us through the contact below before making it public.
A profile you write in Miliastry still has to follow osu!’s own rules when you put it on osu!. That is between you and osu!, not Miliastry.
6. Moderation
Anyone signed in can report a Workshop item or a profile. Moderators and administrators review reports and may hide an item, take it down, or restore it. They can also put a profile in quarantine: the profile and everything it published stop being shown to other people, nothing is deleted, and lifting the quarantine restores it as it was. A hidden or removed item can no longer be opened, starred or commented on by anyone.
We may also hide or remove content that, in our judgement, does not fit Miliastry, even if it breaks no specific rule here. We will still tell you why.
When we hide, remove or delete something of yours, or close a bug report you sent, you get a notification with the reason. We may suspend or ban an account for serious or repeated breaches, including repeated copyright infringement; the reason is shown the next time you sign in, and the account’s public Workshop files come down.
A banned account can still be deleted. Its content is deleted as with any other account, and only a record of the ban (the osu! id, when, why and by whom) is kept, so that the ban still applies if the same osu! account signs in again.
If you think we got it wrong, tell us through the contact below and we will take another look.
7. Plugins
Plugins are code, often written by other people, that runs inside your editor. Each one lists what it can access. Read that before turning it on, and only enable plugins you trust. Miliastry does not guarantee that a community plugin is safe or does what it claims.
8. Collaborative editing
When you share a document, the people you let in can see and, depending on their role, edit it in real time, and they can see your osu! name and avatar. The host can set a password and a default role, and can remove people from the room. Do not put secrets or personal information in a document you share.
Each room also has a chat. What you write there is visible to the room’s members under your osu! name and avatar, and the latest 500 messages of a room are kept with the room and deleted with it.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe something in Miliastry infringes your copyright, send a notice to legal@miliastry.com that includes:
your physical or electronic signature;
the work you say is infringed;
the material you say infringes it, with a link to it;
your name, postal address, phone number and email;
a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for them.
We review complete notices promptly, remove or disable the material if the claim holds, and tell the person who published it, with a copy of the notice.
If you published the material and believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same contact with: your physical or electronic signature; what was removed and where it was; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the United States federal court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, of any judicial district where Miliastry may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the notice. We forward it to them and restore the material 10 to 14 business days later, unless they tell us they have filed a court action to keep it down.
Knowingly sending a false notice or counter-notice can make you liable for the damage it causes. We end the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
10. Other services
Miliastry works with osu! (sign-in and public profile data), Ko-fi (optional donations, in a window inside the app) and, as a collaboration, the game SYNE. Their own terms apply when you use them, and they are not responsible for Miliastry or the other way round. Donations are voluntary, handled by Ko-fi, and do not buy features or priority.
You can also connect your own accounts on image hosts (GitHub, s-ul.eu, catbox.moe and pixeldrain) to upload images for your profile. What you upload goes to the host you choose, under that host’s terms, and you are responsible for it. Miliastry does not host those files.
11. No warranty, and limits on liability
Miliastry is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a purpose. Keep your own copy of anything important: cloud saving is a convenience, not a backup guarantee.
To the extent the law allows, hxovc is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or lost profit arising from your use of Miliastry, and total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid to use it, which is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited, such as consumer rights where you live.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using Miliastry any time and delete your account from your profile (see the Privacy Policy). We can suspend or end access if you break these terms or if we have to stop the service.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Miliastry grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. For a substantial change we will say so in the changelog and in the app. Continuing to use Miliastry after a change means you accept it.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Colombia, where Miliastry is run, without removing any mandatory protection you have under the law of the place where you live.
